When you picture Pride events, you might think of parades, drag shows or vibrant parties – but how about video games? Edmonton-based Indigenous streamer Matt Ward uses video games as a means of creating a safe, inclusive community for himself and others.
Ward is set to take part in the Gamers4Pride event to raise funds and awareness for various LGBTQ+ organizations, including the Rainbow Railroad, the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition and the LGBTQ Freedom Fund.
On Friday, June 18, 2021, CKUA’s Scott Zielsdorf spoke with Ward about his experiences as a queer indigenous content creator, and the upcoming charity gaming event.
