Festival Spotlights, July 6 – 9, 2024
July is here, and it’s always jam-packed with festival goodness. You’re going to want to tune in to CKUA to hear the best in artist interviews, travel plans, and so much music.
Saturday, July 6, 6am – 8am on Classical Connections, Oskar Zybart fills in for Aaron Au, who will be previewing ChamberFest West, Calgary’s summer chamber music festival. Hear conversations with artistic directors Roman Rabinovich (piano) and Diana Cohen (violin), along with music from artists playing ChamberFest West.
Sunday, July 7, 1pm – 2pm on The Bluegrass Hour, host Darcy Whiteside presents the joys of the Shady Grove Bluegrass Festival in Sundre. Darcy will speak with The Unfaithful Servants, Jake Vaadeland, and we’ll hear music all the artists playing the festival, including Blue Canyon Boys, Calvin Vollrath, Rock Hearts, The Doggone Brothers, The Unfaithful Servants, Jake Vaadeland, and Jackson Hollow.
Monday, July 8, 6pm – 8pm on Catch and Release, host Kerry Clarke looks ahead to Hinton’s Wild Mountain Music Festival. Kerry will speak with Alberta-born singer-songwriter, musician, and artist, Gillian Moranz.
Tuesday, July 9, 6pm – 8pm on The Departure Lounge, host Erin Ross celebrates all things South Country Fair. This Fort Macleod festival is a summer favourite! Erin will chat with Artistic Director Steve Ford about the festival program, and will also have Alberta musician Mike Tod on for an interview, and more. Tune in to hear music from artists playing South Country Fair.
