We are thrilled to share our comprehensive Accessibility Plan for 2024-2027, a reflection of our unwavering commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for all. As Alberta’s pioneer in public and educational broadcasting since 1927, our goal is to ensure that every individual, regardless of any barriers they might experience, has access to our diverse and vibrant cultural content.
Our Accessibility Plan, crafted in accordance with the principles of the Accessible Canada Act (ACA), is designed to identify, remove, and prevent barriers within our operations, facilities, and services. This document is not just a policy guide but a declaration of our ongoing journey towards enhancing accessibility at every level of our organization.

Progress Update: 2026
We’ve now published our second annual Accessibility Progress Report, reflecting the continued steps we’ve taken to put our accessibility plan into action and to advance our commitment to accessibility, equity, and inclusion. Over the past year, we have built on our foundational work and made meaningful progress across several key areas. This past year, we:
- Worked with accessibility experts and community partners
Collaborated with NorQuest College and Inclusion Alberta to guide our approach and strengthen our understanding.

Improved accessibility on ckua.com
Enhanced key pages with better colour contrast, alternative text, and improved screen reader compatibility, while preparing for a fully accessible website relaunch.

Upgraded our physical space
Completed a building accessibility audit and installed Braille and wayfinding signage, with more upgrades planned to improve access to all areas of our facility.

Advanced inclusive employment practices
Partnered with Inclusion Alberta to create opportunities for people with disabilities and continued reviewing our hiring processes to remove barriers.

Strengthened our understanding of our team
Introduced demographic tracking to better support the diversity of our staff and volunteers.

Built internal capacity
Continued developing our People & Culture Team to lead inclusive hiring, policies, and workplace practices.

Planned for the future
Began laying the groundwork for a fully accessible website (planned for 2027) and explored improvements in accessible communications, including captioning and plain language.
We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing journey—not a checklist—and we remain committed to listening, learning, and making meaningful improvements as we move forward.
