Celebrations will take place this weekend at The Yardbird Suite to honour three community members with induction into the Edmonton Blues Hall of Fame. The late arts journalist Roger Levesque will be honoured posthumously in the “builder” category. Pianist Graham Guest will be inducted as a performer. And Holger Petersen, host of Natch’l Blues on CKUA, will be honoured in the “literature and recording” category for his two books, Talking Music: Blues Radio and Roots Music (2011) and Talking Music 2: Blues and Roots, Music Mavericks (2016).

Tommie Gallie, President of the Board of the Edmonton Blues Hall of Fame, says that the evening will include a few speeches and a lot of great entertainment, including a performance by Graham Guest and his band. And he’s pleased to see Holger inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“Holger wrote two books that have been highly acclaimed, and we are proud to support such great work coming out of Alberta,” says Gallie. “There is a very active community here. These are awards for people who share their talent, to celebrate the blues. Holger does that so well. And CKUA has been a major, major part of promoting local talent, since Day One.”

Congratulations, Holger. We all see how hard you work. You share your knowledge and enthusiasm for music so readily, and that’s evident in your books as well.

There are still a few tickets available for the celebrations this Sunday, October 29. Get yours before they’re gone.
