Mandy Hildebrand and Douglas Veenstra live in Big River, Saskatchewan. They listen using the CKUA app, unless they are traveling west and can find it on the car radio.
Mandy and Douglas have been listeners and monthly donors since shortly after they met in 2004.
When asked what CKUA means to them, Mandy says, “We both love the diversity of music. Getting new Canadian music heard is probably CKUA’s most important job, in my opinion. Recently I heard a young performer from our area on CKUA, and it brought tears of joy to my eyes!”
They can’t pick a favourite program, but they say they’re very happy to turn on CKUA when they get up in the morning, and leave it on throughout the day. “It works for us, any day of the week.”
Mandy says, “Thanks for all you do!” to the hosts at CKUA, and she wants to send “Ukiuq” by The Jerry Cans out to all their fellow listeners.
