On Theatre: Wring The Roses

Interview

The annual High Performance Rodeo from One Yellow Rabbit brings some of the most unique, eye-catching and thought-provoking theatre and music from around the world to stages in Calgary. This year’s festival wraps up on February 5, but there are still many excellent shows to take in, including Wring The Roses, created by long-time friends, Amanda Cordner and David DiGiovanni.

Amanda may be familiar to TV viewers as one of the stars of the acclaimed CBC series, Sort Of. She has also received accolades for Wring The Roses, which originally premiered in Toronto in 2019. Wring the Roses is a dark comedy about a bachelorette party gone fatally wrong. The story revolves around a group of Italian-Canadian friends who go on what is supposed to be a fun girls’ trip to South America, ahead of their friend’s wedding. However, their trip takes a turn when they run into a group of men from their hometown…

On Tuesday’s Traffic Jams, show creators Amanda Cordner and David DiGiovanni joined Lisa Wilton to discuss the upcoming production.
