The work of Calgary music photographer Zoltan Varadi is the centre of the new exhibition, Reflections: 10 Years Capturing Calgary’s Alt Music Scene, opening September 18 at the National Music Centre.
The show features work Varadi unearthed while exploring a box of old negatives he has amassed over the years, featuring unseen photos. The images preserve a period of local music history, focusing on Calgary’s alternative music scene from 1992-2001. Some of the artists featured include Forbidden Dimension, the Leslie Feist-fronted Placebo, SNFU, Sloan, Bif Naked, Bo Diddley with Steve Pineo, and more.
CKUA’s Lisa Wilton spoke with Zoltan Varadi about the project on Traffic Jams on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Listen below!
