When Twinkle Banerjee emigrated from India to Canada in 2010, a newfound interest in photography became her way of getting to know her new city and new neighbours. Since then, her work has been shown extensively in her hometown of Calgary, and as far afield as New York and Greece.
She continues to expand the areas of interest that spark her work, using her lens to explore diverse subjects—from her Indian-Canadian identity, to global consumerism, to climate change.
Twinkle Banerjee is August’s Artist of the Month for the Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation, and she stopped in to chat with CKUA’s Tony King on Traffic Jams on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Listen to that appearance below.
