The end of a calendar year is a great time to reflect on what we, as a community, have been able to do together. With donor support, we’ve shared hundreds of interviews with Canadian culture-makers. We’ve given thousands of spins to eclectic music by local, emerging and independent musicians. We’ve offered true musical diversity: songs from every musical style and era, including a lot of new music. In 2023, we shone a bright spotlight on dozens of Alberta festivals. We connected in person with artists and music fans alike at festivals in Medicine Hat, Calgary, Canmore, and Edmonton.
Kevin Heaman, who works in Fund Development at CKUA, says, “I work behind the scenes a lot with data analysis, so it’s always good to connect with people! One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had is when we have a winning 50/50 ticket number, and I’m on the group call to tell the winner. To hear the person’s excitement about winning a six-figure cash jackpot is so fun. I was also at the Edmonton Folk Festival this summer and saw everyone flocking to the booth to see the live recordings of interviews with musicians. These are some of my favourite CKUA moments, and I hope to see your continued support.”
The original, thoughtfully curated radio our hosts produce is free to listen to, but not to create, broadcast, or stream. CKUA makes it happen, and listeners who donate make it possible.
As 2023 draws to a close, all of us at CKUA want to acknowledge the importance of donations. Financial support from loyal listeners strengthens everything we do. If you’d like to make a year-end donation, there’s still time.
Make a gift of stock or securities before December 15, or donate before December 31, and you’ll receive a charitable tax receipt for this year.
Monthly donations are particularly impactful for CKUA. Because you value what you hear, begin a monthly gift today.
Thank you to all who give. We appreciate you!
