You’ve seen those giant masterpieces on city walls right? Murals! it’s not just about beautifying the streets it’s an art form that connects generations

Sarah Slaughter is a Calgary-based visual artist whose practice is a reflection of her wide open perspective and respect for multi-disciplinary creation. Immersed in a world where art is everything, she distinguishes herself by her versatility and fearless approach to design and ingenuity. Sara says that it’s more than just eye candy, It’s like a community therapy session! Studies say that public art reduces stress, boost creativity in communities, and it just makes people feel good.

Sarah’s style emphasizes bright colours, strong lines, and takes inspiration from nature and the growing city around her. She has previously done outdoor murals for The City of Red Deer in 2021, Sunalta Wildflower Community Garden in 2020, and the The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society in 2019. In 2020 she created a 544 square foot mural for BUMP, along the 12 Ave cycle path.
