North Country Fair has been celebrating summer solstice in northern Alberta since 1979 and, this year, the festival continues in new, innovative ways. In partnership with the North Country Fair, CKUA shines a spotlight on one of Alberta’s most unique festival experience.
Laurie Iverson has been a devoted North Country Fair volunteer since her first visit in the 1990s to see her favourite band, Feeding Like Butterflies. She went that year, was immediately enchanted, answered an online post calling for volunteers the following year, and — fast-forward a couple of decades, she’s now NCF’s Artistic Director! Recently she spoke with CKUA’s Grant Stovel about why this year, it’s not Fair:
