Oyedamola Folajin is a Nigerian-born musician who records and performs as J Scope. Sixteen years ago he moved to Ukraine to study mining engineering. During his time there, J Scope was also able to pursue his passion for music.
He went on to become a quarter-finalist in the competition for Ukraine’s entry into the Eurovision Song Contest and has collaborated with many artists in the country’s hip hop scene. Now based in Edmonton, J Scope is making a name for himself in Alberta’s hip hop and R&B community. He’s been able to adjust to Edmonton’s arts scene with the help of the Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation and he is being recognized as their Artist of the Month for March.
He joined CKUA’s Lisa Wilton on Traffic Jams to tell us more about his globe-spanning musical journey.
