ICAI Artist of the Month: Lorianne Wiger

Lorianne Wiger has always delighted and found spiritual refuge in creating art; particularly pencil drawing, which she’s done all her life. A main area of interest is the dangerous yet graceful megafauna of her native South Africa, which serve as her primary artistic inspiration. But, well – she never considered herself, you know, an artist.

But… it turns out she is one!! In fact, newly transplanted from South Africa to Okotoks, she heard about the Calgary-based Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation, connected with them, and now her work is being displayed publicly for the first time in her life. And even more than that, she’s been chosen as the ICAI’s Artist of the Month for January!
