Ali Bryan is a Calgary-based author whose star is on the rise. She is set to publish a book with Henry Holt that’s going be released through acclaimed Macmillan Press, she’s also putting the finishing touches on another novel in her acclaimed YA trilogy.
Coming full circle, Ali Bryan just released a novel entitled Coq that sees her protagonist reluctantly agree to arrange a trip to Paris with her extended family, where they plan to celebrate her father’s nuptials all while honouring her mother’s passing….yup, believe it.
What follows is a hilarious romp through broken relationships, a missing wedding ring, and coming to terms with the loss of a parent while attempting to search for inner peace. Described as “White Lotus” meets “National Lampoon’s European Vacation,” Coq is a page turner that moves at a blisteringly fast pace, as Ali Bryan’s characters attempt to find balance in an increasingly erratic world.
Ali Bryan will be in Edmonton May 28 to share her book with readers and answer questions, but before that she popped in to Thoroughfare to have a chat with CKUA’s Tony King:
