Welcome! Bienvenue!

All of us at CKUA are thrilled to welcome Radio Cité to our Edmonton headquarters at the Alberta Hotel. This innovative and creative radio station serves Edmonton’s Francophone community with French-language broadcasting. When we heard that they were looking for a new home for their offices, with some studio space as well, we knew we’d love to welcome them as our neighbours. We’ve got big plans to announce this news and celebrate this cooperative relationship.

First, you can read our press release, in English or French, about how this came to be.

Second, tune in to CKUA at 2pm MT on Tuesday, February 13. That’s World Radio Day, and what better way to celebrate the worldwide impact of radio than to celebrate not one but two radio stations? Tony King‘s guest will be Kevin Bell from Radio Cité.

Finally, in celebration of the wide appeal and joie de vivre of French-language arts and culture, enter to win tickets for Le Vent du Nord. This award-winning band is a leading force in Quebec’s progressive francophone folk movement. They’ll be at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert on February 16, and our friends at the Arden have given us two pairs of tickets to give away. If you’d like to be entered in the contest to win one of these pairs of tickets, fill out the form below!

Submit your name and contact info between Monday, February 12 at 7am MT and 5pm, Tuesday, February 13. The draw will take place shortly after 5pm MT on February 13.  The winner will be notified by email. Only one entry per contest will be counted.

For more more information, please read the CKUA contest Terms & Conditions.

The winner of the two (2) pairs of tickets to see Le Vent du Nord at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert on February 16 are Caleigh C. from St. Albert, and Kathryn V. from Edmonton.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our official welcome of Radio Cité to the Alberta Hotel, and participated in our celebration of World Radio Day.
