Meet Logan Hynes, donor, nurse, painter!

Story

Logan Hynes first encountered CKUA in 1995, when her family moved from Ontario to Alberta. “I believe my parents were turned on to CKUA right away,” she says. Her parents had every radio tuned to CKUA.

Logan’s a longtime fan herself, for the music and also for the feeling of kinship CKUA brings. “I love CKUA’s sense of community. When you speak to other people who are also big fans of the station, you immediately develop a connection. You know that the person values good quality music and art.”

A registered nurse, Logan says she is happy she’s finally been able to make the leap to monthly donor.

“For a long time, I would donate during the fall and spring fundraisers,” she says. “I always knew that it was important to me to become a monthly donor.”

“As I have been a student for the past few years, it is easier now that I am working that I can easily set up a plan for a monthly donation,” she adds. “I want to be able to continue to increase my monthly donations over time and still donate during the fundraisers when you can double your dollars!”

Logan is a donor because she believes in CKUA. “I donate because I want to keep it going!” she says. “Listeners know just how special CKUA is and there is no other radio station out there like it. Just like other streaming devices we subscribe to for access, donating what you can goes a long way.”

We asked Logan, what is your favourite CKUA show or host?

“This is a hard question,” she says. “One favorite would have to be Thoroughfare, hosted by Tony King because I love the descriptions and backstories of all the artists and songs, I also find his voice very relaxing to listen to. My other favorite would be Lionel’s Vinyls because you know that he will have curated an amazing two hours of great music that will have you grooving!”

Beyond her work at Rockyview General Hospital, Logan enjoys a nice balance of socializing, nature and creativity.  “For fun, I love to catch up with family and friends and spend time with my husband,” she says. “I love to be outdoors in nature and have been recently taking more time to paint and cook while listening to CKUA.”
