Robin Hatch plays TONTO at the National Music Centre

Interview

It looks almost like a telephone exchange from the 1940’s. A collection of wires, patch cords, and switches. Throw in a keyboard or 2, and The Original New Timbral Orchestra is really one of the world’s largest analog synthesizers. Better known by the acronym TONTO, it will have its first live performance in three decades Friday night at the National Music Centre. Toronto-based composer Robin Hatch will be at the controls and she will join Lisa Wilton Traffic Jams on Friday afternoon at 3:30 to talk about this one-of-a-kind instrument.
