In March 2020, Alberta’s own Mercury Opera transports Puccini’s classic tale of tragic love from the underbelly of 1830s Paris, to the disco, drag & punk scene of New York City circa 1979.
Recently Mercury Opera founder & Artistic Director Darcia Parada talked with to CKUA’s Lisa Wilton about her unconventional performance of La Bohème in NYC years ago. This experience gave her the inspiration to found her own opera company, built around the idea of immersive performance in intimate spaces.
