ESO Streams Classical

Interview

A new concert series called Canada Performs was just unveiled, which is part of an ongoing partnership between the National Arts Centre and Facebook Canada. The objective of the series is to provide a platform where artists can connect with their community and the world via performances.

The latest in this series features principal cellist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Rafael Hoekman, and frequent guest artist pianist, Jeremy Spurgeon.

Together they are going to take to the stage at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton and perform an hour long show featuring works by Tchaikovsky, Elgar, Faure and Popper.

The concert will be broadcast via the ESO’s Facebook channel at 2:00 PM MDT on Thursday, March 26th.

Tony King spoke with Rafael Hoekman, principal cellist with the ESO about the joys and challenges of this undertaking.

The ESO performance can be live-streamed March 25 at 2:00 PM MDT at https://www.facebook.com/edmontonsymphony/ and https://www.facebook.com/CanadasNAC.CNAduCanada/
