Elizabeth Withey shares ‘The One with the Scraggly Beard’

Interview

Calgary author Elizabeth Withey has released a new children’s book that explores themes of homelessness, belonging and compassion. The One with the Scraggly Beard focuses on a young boy asking his mother questions about a homeless man he sees sleeping under a bridge.

The inspiration for the book is rooted in the author’s own life experience. Elizabeth Withey spoke with CKUA’s Elliott Garnier about her book, and why she wanted to share this story with young audiences:

The One with the Scraggly Beard is available now via Orca Book Publishers, and features illustrations by Lynn Surfield. You can order a copy by visiting OrcaBooks.com.
