On April 17, CKUA's CEO, Marc Carnes, went public with a challenging message, outlining the financial pressures that CKUA is experiencing due to rising costs, real estate pressures, and no funding news from the provincial and federal governments. That message was a powerful catalyst for something that the CKUA community does incredibly well: showing up, celebrating community, and exceeding expectations.

Between April 19 and 28, CKUA's listeners donated $1,674,760. We heard from many loyal donors who have supported CKUA for years or even decades. We also welcomed 1683 first-time donors to the CKUA community. This is a remarkable testament to the power of music, community, and generosity. So many moments in this fundraiser warmed our hearts and boosted our spirits. We heard wonderful musical suggestions and beautiful comments. We welcomed people into our Edmonton and Calgary studios for food, laughter, and dancing. The best hosts in broadcasting offered inspiring conversations and amazing playlists. The support was incredible, and we thank every person who donated.

Spring Fundraiser 2024 is an important piece of our larger fundraising goal. CKUA needs to raise $3 million by September 2024. We will share more details about this in the coming weeks and months. Right now, we are celebrating with you!
