A Newcomer To Old Music

Hosted by: Lark Clark Monday 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Classical

iconoclastic • lively • non-traditional

A Newcomer To Old Music is a program of exploration. Join Lark Clark to listen to “period instruments” like the theorbo (6-foot long bass lute) and the piffaro (teeny tiny flute), and hear Classical music as dance music! We’ve all heard of the minuet, but what about the courante, the pavane, the gigue? And what’s this? Percussion in “classical” music? You’ll hear interviews with the Alberta folks who are making this music: Early Music Alberta; Early Music Voices, Calgary; Edmonton Chamber Music Society. Host Lark Clark is not an expert, but she has lots of curiosity. Join her Monday night for a chance to listen with fresh ears.
