Kitty & The Rooster and Jack Garton

Sunday, March 17th $20

Vancouver surf rock n’ rollers Kitty & The Rooster and Galiano accordion/trumpet dreamboat Jack Garton return to Calgary for a fun St. Patty’s party!

7pm // $20

Kitty & The Rooster is a surf rock n’ roll duo from Vancouver featuring Jodie Ponto on the stand-up cocktail drumkit and Noah Walker on electric guitar. They are known for their big sound, laugh out loud lyrics, and ridiculously fun shows. The band has toured all across Canada, played a cluck-ton of festivals including Vancouver Folk Fest, opened for Shannon & The Clams, and released two albums called One Gig Hard Drive and Ain’t Pussyfootin’ Around.

Enchanting audiences in Western Canada and the USA for many years as a musician and theater artist, Jack Garton’s show is a rocking, sultry and fresh blend of folk and roots, steeped heavily in the rockabilly and doo-wop that were his first musical loves. Jack has performed solo and with many beloved bands and theatre companies throughout North America and Europe, featuring in the Firehall Arts Centre’s production of Chelsea Hotel: The Songs Of Leonard Cohen (Feb 2024). Fresh from releasing a new original full-length album with Vancouver surf legends Kitty and the Rooster, released December 2023, Jack is excited to be bringing this strong, honest and vulnerable collection of songs to audiences everywhere.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
