John Hewitt Book Release featuring Hannah King

Saturday, April 6th

John Hewitt is often called one of the hardest working musicians in Alberta, and rightly so. Since March 2020 he has released five full length albums, produced an additional four albums for Edmonton artists, toured the US and Canada extensively hitting over 150 tour dates a year and as of September started a booking, management and production company bringing Alberta to the US and the US to Alberta. Now, on top of everything else he’s releasing a book of lyrics and road stories titled “Aphrodite & Me: Songs for the Muse and Stories from the Road” culminating the first 20 years of John’s career in Canada.

The New Americans are an Edmonton supergroup with John at the helm, Patrick Hughes (Nuela Charles), Erik Mortimer (Barkells, Andrea House), Connor Miskiman (Electric Religious), Jordan Dempster (Oil City Sound Machine) and Hannah King who is a national fiddle champion from Whitefish, Montana. On April 6th join them at the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton to celebrate John’s first book, his first five albums and his influence on the Canadian music scene.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
