The art of illustrating the past isn’t just about referencing old photos. It’s about taking the time to truly understand; To create something new through storytelling.

Join local illustrator and museum professional, Nancy Nickolson, as she shares her journey creating artwork that connects people to the past. She’ll reveal the meticulous process behind her work, including how she created a detailed historic Edmonton map for modern eyes. Come hear her story and get a chance to see her original paintings up close!

She has illustrated for many exciting projects, including the children’s book, “Alphabet Stage”. In 2022, her “How to Perogy” recipe guide received national acclaim as she raised funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine. In 2023 she created an ambitious historic Walterdale map for the City of Edmonton’s John Walter Museum, meticulously hand-painting all the elements.
