CPO – Brilliant Bassoon

Friday, May 10th

Experience all the expressive capabilities of the bassoon — athletic agility, touching tenderness, and virtuosic velocity — as the Orchestra’s Principal Bassoon Antoine St-Onge shows them off in Carl Maria Von Weber’s theatrical concerto. Grammy Award–winning conductor Karen Kamensek demonstrates her expansive artistry in William Walton’s Symphony No. 1 — a work of searing intensity inspired by his fiery love affair with Baroness Imma Doernberg.

WEBER Bassoon Concerto
WALTON Symphony No. 1

This concert has an approximate run time of 2 hours. There is a 20 minute intermission. Join us for our pre-concert chat at 6:35PM with Assistant Principal Bassoon Michael Hope.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
