Carol Wylie: Artist Talk & Reception

Saturday, February 10th

Join us this Saturday, February 10 as we host the Reception and Artist talk for our current exhibition,” Reflections”. From 1 – 2 pm, Carol Wylie will be giving an artist talk with visual demonstration of her studio practice. Following the artist talk will be the reception from 2 — 4pm where we will meet both artists, chat, and have refreshments.

“Reflections”

Gallery@501 is pleased to present a new art exhibition, “Reflections,” featuring artworks from two Canadian artists, Carol Wylie, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Marie-Pierre Castonguay, from Sherwood Park, Alberta. The exhibit opens at Gallery@501 on January 23 and shows until March 2, 2024.

Visitors will discover portraits created by Wylie and Castonguay that capture a range of unique individual stories of their subjects through paintings and photographs. Both artists create opportunities to expand the viewer’s empathy and understanding of others by depicting a diversity in the lived experiences of their subjects.

Access to unlimited images has changed the way we think about portraiture and how we see each other. These artists thoughtfully capture unique moments of their subjects that inspire visitors to slow down and find connection to the subjects and consider their perceptions, assumptions, vulnerabilities and strengths, similarities and shared experiences.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
