Ryan Boldt performs “Lone Pilgrim” live at Hawrelak Park

Ryan Boldt recently returned to Alberta with his band, The Deep Dark Woods, performing at the Calgary Folk Music Festival and Interstellar Rodeo. During his stop in Edmonton, CKUA invited Ryan to join us in Hawrelak Park to perform an acoustic rendition of the traditional song, “The Lone Pilgrim”. “The Sacred Harp singers did it a lot, so you can hear really ridged Baptists sing this beautiful, beautiful melody at the top of their lungs every now and again on YouTube“, Ryan tells CKUA’s Grant Stovel. “It’s a beautiful old Sacred Harp song, but I do it in the folk sort of way.” Ryan recently launched a can’t miss folk/roots podcast called The Ryan Boldt Radio Show that is chalk full of musical discoveries and great stories too.
