Ahead of the release of her new EP this Friday, Celeigh Cardinal premiered two songs from the record live in CKUA’s Studio A. “I’ve had a rough couple of years,” Cardinal told Grant Stovel during her session. “I went through some really tough times, some real heartbreak, some pretty serious loss, a lot of scary things happening. At the same time, I was winning awards, travelling to Europe, and landing these great festivals. These amazing things were happening that were balancing these awful things that were happening.” Cardinal tapped into this chaos during the writing process for ‘Stories from A Downtown Apartment.’ As she tell us, “these are the stories that I’ve collected, and have been through for the last couple of years. These are all true stories.”
Cardinal releases ‘Stories from a Downtown Apartment’ this Friday, with a show at CKUA’s Edmonton performance space, and Saturday at Mikey’s on 12th. You can check out her live rendition of “When All Is Said and Done” above, and “Song By The Supermoon” below.
