Blueberry Bluegrass Preview

Festival Radio

With three days of music on one outdoor stage and two indoor stages, the Blueberry Bluegrass Festival in Stony Plain has been sharing live music on the August long weekend since 1985. This year’s lineup includes established and emerging bluegrass artists from near and far.

This past weekend on Festival Radio, CKUA’s own Darcy Whiteside highlighted the Blueberry Bluegrass Festival.

He was joined by Toronto’s The Barrel Boys, a 5-piece string band with rich vocal harmonies who play classic bluegrass, old tyme, classic country, and Americana.

Darcy was also joined by Anna Somervillie, President of the Blueberry Festival Board of Directors, and Carolyn Hotte, the Entertainment Director. Anna and Carolyn joined Darcy to talk about the 2022 Blueberry Bluegrass Festival and how they’ve been keeping bluegrass alive during the last two years.

Our surprise guest was Byron Myhre, from Myhre’s Music in Edmonton. Myhre’s Music is a family owned business that has been serving Edmonton and area musicians since 1967. Here’s their special conversation, and performance!

Tune in to CKUA every Saturday for more festival previews.
