During the Spring Fundraiser, we welcomed more than 1700 new people to the CKUA donor community. We heard a resounding “Yes!” when we asked people to step up. The support we received during the Spring Fundraiser was incredible and inspiring. It proved that the community is behind CKUA and will fight for its future.
With this support we have confidently continued to do the work we love this summer, sharing music, arts, and culture with an engaged, inspiring community. Our tent at numerous festivals has been the site of many wonderful interviews, performances, and community connections. And, of course, our fundraising efforts have not stopped since the spring.
On April 17, CEO Marc Carnes addressed the CKUA community with an update about CKUA’s future, that we need $3 million by September 30. Six weeks ago, Marc spoke with host Grant Stovel, providing us with an update. Watch it here.
We’re pleased to provide another update on CKUA’s fundraising efforts. Since April 2024, we raised $2.2 million cash-in-hand. We have also secured additional pledges, taking our total to $2.5 million. We are well on our way to our $3 million goal. There are, however, still miles to go on our fundraising journey beyond September 30. Your continued support makes a real impact on our day-to-day operations, and our plans to reach 100 years and beyond.
Without listeners who choose to become donors, CKUA would not be on the air or out in the community. What steps can you take now?
1) If you haven’t sent a letter to your elected representative yet to tell them why CKUA is important to you and to Canada, you can find the info at CKUA.com/thetimeisnow. We’ve added a new letter focused on CKUA’s contribution to the festival season that can be sent in.
2) We can’t stop and we won’t stop fundraising. We’re asking more listeners to donate. CKUA continues to fundraise to meet our September goal. You can donate at CKUA.com
Thank you for your support.
Kevin Fitzgerald,
Chief Development Officer, CKUA
