UPDATE: Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday

UPDATE: On Thursday Dec 12, CKUA’s Chief Development Officer, Kevin Fitzgerald joined Traffic Jams host Lisa Wilton to share that, thanks to the amazing generosity of you, our donors, we raised $25,707 on GivingTuesday. We are so grateful! Thank you to all who stepped up and supported CKUA this GivingTuesday. And thanks you to the leadership donors who inspire others to give. You are helping to keep the music playing.

December 3 is GivingTuesday! Referred to as the “opening day of the giving season,” it is a day to support worthy causes and celebrate generosity. CKUA is a registered charity, committed to lifting people up through the power of music, arts, and culture. We rely on donations from listeners.

In 2024, CKUA has celebrated and supported more than 50 festivals in Alberta—interviewing artists, connecting with music lovers, and creating content that was broadcast throughout the province and around the world.

· Did you meet Aaron Au at the Banff International String Quartet Festival in Banff, while beautiful music filled the Rocky Mountains?

· Maybe you found some shade near our tent in Gallagher Park when Terry David Mulligan interviewed Rhiannon Giddens at the Edmonton Folk Fest.

· Perhaps your highlight was hearing Lisa Wilton in conversation with Elisapie in Canmore.

· We’ve heard from a few people that the live broadcast of Fantastic Negrito from the stage of Calgary Folk Fest was their best festival moment!

Now we’ve got our eyes — and ears — on Alberta’s winter festivals. We know that the music does not stop just because the daylight is getting shorter. Will you help CKUA expand its winter programming in Alberta?

This GivingTuesday, we invite you to support us in raising funds to support the expansion of our winter festival coverage.

Whether you come up to say hello at a festival or tap your toes along with the music from your home, please know that your support helps us build the CKUA community, on the air, online, and in person!

Donations received now until midnight on Tuesday, will be matched up to $50,000, thanks to our leadership donors. Your gift supports original programming and authentic community connections. We’re grateful to be a part of a generous community.

CKUA’s Chief Development Officer, Kevin Fitzgerald, was on Alberta Morning with Grant Stovel on Tuesday, December 3.
