Wednesday, June 14, 7pm – 8pm on Far Out

On Wednesday, Amy van Keeken looked ahead to Calgary’s Sled Island Music & Arts Festival. She spoke with Jeremy Witten from Edmonton band Baby Jey, and shared a song from their new album Crop Circles, which will be released in October. Check out this episode OnDemand, before Tuesday June 20 to hear music from festival acts such as Marlaena Moore, Helado Negro, Sun Ra Arkestra, Haviah Mighty, and this year’s guest curator, Bartees Strange.

Thursday, June 15, 7pm – 8pm on A Time for Jazz

Now in its 27th year, the Medicine Hat JazzFest brings the best in jazz to south-eastern Alberta. Featuring local, Canadian, and international artists at venues around the city, this festival is a celebration of community. This year’s lineup includes Caity Gyorgy, Mazacote, Turboprop, and a whole host of other performers. Kodi Hutchinson will share music from artists coming to the festival, and he’ll give an overview of the shows, including the mainstay Hangar show. We’ll hear from Will Bonness, Caity Gyorgy, and Daniel Avelin of Mazacote.

Monday, June 19, 5pm – 6pm on Traffic Jams

Lisa Wilton previews North Country Fair with music by Apollo Suns, Cat Clyde, The Hello Darlins, Carter and the Capitals, Jack Garton, Hawksley Workman, and the Dana Wylie Band. You may hear a tune or two from some artists who have played the Fair in years past as well. Hear interviews with Cat Clyde and Kitty the Rooster, too.
