This week’s Festival Friday Night is your ticket to exclusive sessions from a select line-up of Sled Island artists. We’re broadcasting a full show of private performances, all recorded at gravitypope’s invite-only birthday celebration in Calgary.
Featuring sessions by
Amy Nelson – Calgary’s banjo-strummer songwriter transports audiences back to an earlier time with her mix of old-time blues and mountain music.
Peach Pyramid – Victora’s Jen Severtson combines intricate dream-pop melodies with deeply-personal songwriting into a complex, varied sound.
Thomas Thomas – 50s – 60s retro-pop with a modern bent. Calgary’s Thomas Thomas promises catchy hooks, boundless energy and just a touch of saccharine songwriting.
Black Belt Eagle Scout – Katherine Paul’s powerful debut last year mixed tense guitar with heartfelt, probing lyrics exploring loss, heartache and colonialism. Her latest work explores the same themes with an emphasis on softer notes and delicate vocals.
Festival Friday Night is your chance to hear this slate of great artists. Tune in – Friday at 8pm MT.
