Do you (or someone you know) have a 200-300 word story about you and CKUA that you’d like to share with us? Please let us know by writing us. We’d love to feature it! What do such stories look like?
Well, here’s one by Sandy Asmundson!

Dearest CKUA,
You are a pivotal part of our lives. Our relationship with you began New Year’s Eve 2007 during our stay at the original and now gone, Kilmorey Lodge in Waterton Lakes National Park.
Due to its history and quaintness, we didn’t have television or internet, only a small clock radio on the bedside table. So it is with that wee technology we discovered you. It made for a wonderful weekend.
Andy Donnelly was the first voice we heard at CKUA, and Baba quickly became the guy I would say to anyone that will listen, “Guess what Baba taught me today and/or Baba played the Beastie Boys?!” So darn cool. Some have even labeled me an “audiophile” with the random musical facts I pass on to others at dinner parties! I also enjoy the songs that you dig out from somewhere that have me dancing alone in my living room! I truly dance like no one is watching. Life is better when one sings and dances.
Every day since 2007, CKUA has filled our home with music of every kind imaginable. You have become our music teachers and our comforting constant as we leave the radio on to greet us when we arrive home. Please know how much you all enhance our lives and the positivity you pass on through the airwaves. We turn to you for knowledge, comfort and inclusion. Keep up the thoughtful and outstanding work! It matters to the world more than you could ever know.
Sincerely and with love,
Sandy Asmundson … Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
