On Saturday, September 27, host Mark Rodgers’ late show, Open Nights, will feature a conversation with multi-faceted Edmonton artist Mark Feduk a.k.a. Red Ram.
Rodgers first encountered Feduk and his music around two decades ago. Now, Red Ram has released a new album, Those Days, Those Dreams, on September 16. The big news: after 20 years, Feduk says it will be Red Ram’s last, ever.
“He’s going to wrap it up after 20 years,” says Rodgers. “Still a musician, still working, but just packing up Red Ram.”
Tune in to hear Rodgers and Feduk discuss the album, including a look behind the scenes at engineering and production, and hear why Red Ram is going to be retired. And catch the band in Edmonton on October 3! More info on Red Ram can be found here.
Rodgers will also play tracks from Gojira, a French heavy metal band, on the anniversary of their appearance at the Olympics last year, for which they won a Grammy Award. It’s also the anniversary of Gojira’s album, From Mars to Sirius, which came out 20 years ago.
“I saw them live around that time,” says Rodgers. “It was great, they were opening for Cradle of Filth. I’d gone to the show to see that band but then saw Gojira and thought, ‘Wow, who’s this?’”
Gojira are also playing live in Alberta soon. Catch them opening for Korn in Calgary, September 28 and in Edmonton, September 29. Details are on their website.
Tune in to Open Nights, Saturday, September 27, 9pm to midnight MT.
Then, on Wednesday, October 1, host Amy van Keeken is speaking to Carolyn Mark. The Canadian alt-country singer-songwriter is known for her razor-sharp lyrics, irreverent humour, and magnetic live performances.
“Carolyn is a gem of the Canadian music scene,” says van Keeken. “She is hilarious and genuine and has a knack for making folks feel at ease and part of a real community.”
van Keeken says she is looking forward to asking Mark about her collaboration with Oldseed a.k.a. Craig Bjerring on this tour. “She is a master collaborator,” says van Keeken.
“Carolyn’s live shows are legendary,” says van Keeken, “full of fun, jokes, community, exuberance and excellent songwriting. I’m looking forward to finding out what she and Oldseed have up their sleeves for this tour.”
