On March 28, 2026, music, art, and community will come together for the debut of the Record Swap & Artist Jam Night at CKUA’s Beresh Arts Den.
The event, hosted by YEG Artist Jam Night in partnership with CKUA and Fringe Theatre, is a multi-disciplinary affair celebrating Edmonton’s art history and future. It will feature something for every music and art lover, including a record swap, a free-to-use visual arts table, a dance floor, live music, and tours of CKUA’s historic record library.
“We’re excited to welcome YEG Artist Jam Night into our space,” says CKUA Events and Volunteers Coordinator Tom Tunski. “It’s a natural fit for our community-focused mission, and we can’t wait to see the creativity and collaboration it inspires.”
Doors will open at 5:30pm MT, with the record swap kicking off at 6. Guests are encouraged to bring their own records and get swapping! Record Collector’s Paradise will be bringing a wide selection of vinyl from their shop. There will also be selections from CKUA’s own record library available to round out your collection.
In addition to top-tier crate-digging, guests can also explore CKUA’s historic music library throughout the night. You’ll have the chance to walk through more than 140 years of musical history guided by knowledgeable CKUA volunteers. Guests can also enjoy a free-to-use visual arts table, a lively dance floor, and vibrant live music throughout the evening.
The Record Swap & Artist Jam Night has something for just about everybody. According to founder and producer Abby McLaren, that’s the idea: to create a space where music and art lovers can find common ground for collaboration and connection.
“Connecting people over the love and care of music that gets held in vinyl… Sharing what we love, why we love it, and connecting people through those songs is what I’m looking forward to most,” explains McLaren. “I think creating a space where even the smallest act of creativity is encouraged and celebrated, with no expectation for perfection, can help support people who haven’t lifted the veil on the broader Edmonton art scene.”
