We’re heading into the final weekend of our Spring 50/50. The jackpot is growing every day, and you can buy tickets through June 11, 2026.
CKUA staff can’t buy tickets, but that doesn’t stop us from having big raffle dreams. We asked some CKUA staff and hosts what they would do with $150,000.
“Oh, I’d take a trip, maybe to Portugal. I’d pay off some debt, and then donate to CKUA and some other charities.” – Shannon Romanyshyn, Executive Assistant
“I’d throw a big party, and buy a round of drinks for everyone. I would also go to a record store and pick whatever I wanted.” – Tomas Spasiuk, Marketing Coordinator
“Oh gosh! After the practical considerations of reducing the mortgage and renovating the kitchen and basement bathroom, I’d make sure there was some left to go on a family trip. New Zealand has always been on the dream list (kayaking off South Island). I would also love to go back to the magic of Glastonbury Festival.” – Peter Chapman, Sales and Partnership Development Specialist
“Some travel, for sure. I think the beaches in Croatia!” – Adam Mitchell, CEO
“Booking a dream trip to Germany to experience the Christmas markets at peak holiday magic. Or finally taking a long trip back home to South Africa to spend quality time with family and friends. And I’d absolutely become the person who buys concert tickets the second they go on sale, instead of giving myself a 48-hour ‘be financially responsible’ pep talk first. But beyond the fun stuff, I’d also love the chance to share some of it with the people I care about and support a few causes that mean a lot to me. That’s what makes the 50/50 so special—you get to dream big while supporting something that matters.” – Yvone Joubert, Donor Stewardship and Engagement Manager
“If I won 100 grand (if I won 100 grand)
I’d buy you an ice cream stand
A real-life ice cream stand ’cause that’s cool
If I won 200 grand (if I won 200 grand)
I’d build an animatronic band
And send them all to music school” – Joe Hartfeil, CKUA host
“I’d go to Thailand. My friend moved there 15 years ago. She and her partner have a little reggae bar in Phuket, and I haven’t seen her in 8 years.” – Laurie Iverson, Events and Volunteer Manager
“I would take my family to Scotland for a month, taking a few days to visit England and maybe Ireland. The balance would possibly be used to purchase a camping spot near a lake so we can park our travel trailer for weekends or evening enjoyment.” – Louanne Diprose, Senior Accountant
