New Program Spotlight: This Just In

Host Amy van Keeken is known for her thoughtful programming, her adventurous and eclectic music choices, and her collaborative spirit. We asked her about her new program, This Just In.

Tell us about your new show. What can people expect when they tune in?

This Just In is a show dedicated to exploring new releases in the CKUA library. Get a taste of the latest recordings in many genres and styles, from all over the world. Expect to hear interviews with artists, live performances, and CKUA colleagues joining me to share what new releases they are currently spinning on their shows, and why.

Who are your cultural influences and musical favourites?

I love listening to and experiencing all kinds of music in all genres from across the globe. The CKUA library gets so many new release submissions every day, and This Just In is your guide to exploring them.

How did you decide on your program’s name?

It’s a show dedicated to new releases in the CKUA library so I thought the old journalism phrase “This Just In” would be perfect as these releases are literally just added to our music library.

What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?

I own more than 15 typewriters (this might not be surprising).

What does CKUA mean to you?

Before I ever worked here, I was a dedicated CKUA listener, donor, and volunteer.  CKUA is friendship, community, musical education, and exploration to me.

Thank you, Amy! Listeners can catch This Just In Fridays, 9am – 11am MT, here on CKUA.
