On National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada. Throughout the day on Friday, June 21, you will hear special programming to honour National Indigenous Peoples Day.

We’ll have music, conversation, and celebration. Grant Stovel will speak with the legendary Willie Thrasher, an Inuvialuit musician from Aklavik, Northwest Territories. Willie and his partner, Linda Saddleback, will be performing at OHSOTO’KINO: Indigenous Peoples Day at Studio Bell at the National Music Centre.

Lisa Wilton will spin Indigenous-made music from a variety of artists, with an emphasis on artists who made an impact on rock ‘n’ roll: Robbie Robertson, Link Wray, Jesse Ed Davis and Jimi Hendrix. Plus, Wyatt C. Louis stops by as a 30-minute DJ, choosing some music for CKUA’s audience.
