Meghan Bidinger starts her workdays early. She works at McBride’s Bakery in Medicine Hat, and says, “I drive to work at four in the morning.”
She mentions sourdough bread and old fashioned donuts as two of the things she might be baking in those early hours. She’s grateful for the musical companionship CKUA offers at that time of day. She particularly enjoys Alberta Morning, hosted by Grant Stovel, which starts at 6am.
Musical variety and real human voices are two of the reasons she donated for the first time during our recent Fall Fundraiser.
Bidinger says she’s been a CKUA listener since 2020. “I’ve always loved music, and I am a musician.” A parent to a young son and teenaged daughter, she tries to make music a part of everyday life. Her donation in October included a dedication to her son, because it was his birthday. She also notes that her daughter recently learned about Gord Downie and his work to share the story of Chanie Wenjack.
“Given the political divide around us, I feel like music is the way to connect people.”
Her reasons for supporting CKUA are simple. “I want to support the arts, and I always discover so much music when I listen to CKUA. I heard some really great music during your fundraiser, and I thought it was time to donate.”
