CKUA is a community-supported station. In that sense, we are locally owned and operated.
With a $6-million operating budget and nearly 70 people on staff, we are part of the small & medium-sized business community that is so characteristic of Alberta. As a charitable non-profit organization, no specific individual or individuals ‘own’ CKUA.
Everything we do is in the interest of the public good. Almost everything we spend goes directly back into the local economy. (There are exceptions, of course. For instance, did you know some of our transmitters are made in Italy?)
The past two months have been hard on a lot of local businesses. As we set our eyes on the reopening of the Alberta economy, I wanted to take a moment to shine the spotlight on some of the companies we here at CKUA are fond of.
Most are headquartered here in Alberta. All contribute to our way of life in this province and beyond.
