Thank you to everyone who has donated during the 2025 Spring Fundraiser. It’s been ten days of music, laughter, excitement, hard work.
We loved hearing hosts laughing and talking on the air. It thrilled us to meet listeners at the kick-off at the King Eddy in Calgary. It was our honour to welcome guests to the Beresh Arts Den at our Edmonton building, where we danced, laughed, and cut the biggest carrot cake we’d ever seen.
At the centre of it all are our wonderful donors. They made every moment special, and their generosity fuels our daily operations.
“What an incredible week,” said CKUA’s Chief Operating Officer, Adam Mitchell. “I can’t express adequately how grateful we are for the support of the CKUA community, and what they bring to these fundraisers. Nothing compares to the outpouring of support we receive from listeners and donors. We can’t do it without them. There’s nothing like it.”
Mitchell says, “It’s been magical to share space—and airwaves—with hosts who travel from across Alberta, from BC, and beyond. And for every magical on-air hour, there is a team of fundraisers and production staff and people behind the scenes. They are hosting events, and answering feedback emails, and supporting each other in ways that only the CKUA family can do. I’m incredibly proud of this team and their tireless efforts.”
Mitchell also notes that CKUA is continuing its fundraising campaign. “I believe that our listeners will get us to that $1 Million goal. If you’ve been listening, and you’re as amazed as I am by the outpouring of support, but you haven’t made your donation yet, now is the time! Come and be a part of this thing that we have done over the past ten days.”
We are returning to regular weekly programming, but as long as there is money in the Double Your Dollars pool, we will continue to match donations. It’s CKUA’s leadership donors who create this Double Your Dollars pool, hoping to motivate others to give. Mitchell says, “Those leadership donors, and what they bring to the table to help us reach our goal? I’ve never seen anything like it, in my whole career.”
