Our 2025 Fall Fundraiser is in the books, and there’s SO much to celebrate here at CKUA!
Donors power CKUA. We felt your support in your encouraging messages, we heard it in your musical requests, and we saw it firsthand when we met each other at our fundraising events. Your continued support is essential to a strong CKUA, not just during Fall Fundraiser, but every moment we’re on the air.
Thanks to donor support, CKUA raised $991,184. That’s incredible. It was ten days full of special moments and high energy.
Different people have different favourite memories. That’s what makes each fundraiser special–the moments that stand out, the things we hold in our hearts as we recall the generosity of the community.
Grant Stovel, host of Alberta Morning, says, “I knew Darcy’s Bluegrass Hootenanny was going to be a BLAST, but I was utterly amazed at how profound and moving it turned out to be! When people come together in a circle to share music live in a room together — both literally and in a figurative sense, across the airwaves — we’re all joining in on a big cosmic chorus together, harmonizing in such a powerful intentional, and inspiring way that, well, it brought a wee tear to my eye.”
This fundraiser also marked the launch of a few “Triple Your Dollars” hours, something that was remarkable for Fund Development Manager Erin O’Neil. “My favourite Fall Fundraiser memory was introducing the Triple Your Dollars hours and hearing how well they resonated with listeners. I thought the hosts all did an incredible job generating excitement about it!”
Karen Howell, Events and Volunteer Coordinator, names a Teams chat among all the CKUA staff who were tracking donations as her favourite thing about the fundraiser. Staff-members signed up for shifts to update the total and make sure donations were being received and tracked in real time. Howell says, “Whether it was a win, a crisis, or the perfect meme, it felt like we were all together, celebrating all things fundraiser.”
