Classical Connections with host Aaron Au
Saturday, September 26, 6am – 8am MT
It was our pleasure to be at Banff for the Banff International String Quartet Festival (BISQFest) in early September. We met so many classical music fans and heard such beautiful music. Tune in to Classical Connections to hear a concert recorded at that festival. Opus13 is rapidly building a reputation on the international chamber music scene. Formed in Oslo in 2014 and now based in both Oslo and Stockholm, the group is known internationally for winning first prizes at the 2025 Wigmore Hall and Bordeaux international string quartet competitions. Enjoy the performance that was recorded live in the Rolston Recital Hall. Aaron will also share a BISQFest recording of the Dalí Quartet. Acclaimed for its unique programming, the Dalí Quartet brings music by Latin American composers to the stage.

Open Nights with host Mark Rodgers
Saturday, September 26, 9pm – midnight MT
If you saw a gig poster in Edmonton between the early 80s and 2003, the odds are that one of them was done by Spyder Yardley-Jones. Boy Did I Ever Get Postered Last Night is Jones’s new book, which will be launched at CKUA’s Beresh Arts Den on October 2, in a free, all-ages event.
Spyder is an Edmonton artist whose art shows have awed and shocked the public in Canada and the USA. He’s a cartoonist, painter, sculptor and instructor, graphic novel illustrator and children’s book illustrator. Spyder also spent decades making some of the most vibrant, thought-provoking and ground-breaking concert posters for shows in and around Edmonton. These works are not only an important piece of Spyder’s output, but an archive of musical movements and counter-culture. Tune in to Open Nights, when host Mark Rodgers will share music, plus interview clips with the one and only Spyder Yardley-Jones.
We’re approaching Fall Fundraiser 2026. Everything we do is rooted in community and made possible by generous donors. Because you value the original, authentic programming our hosts deliver, make a plan to donate. The fun starts October 23, but of course you can donate anytime at CKUA.com/donate.
