It all started with a tweet by Lisa Wilton
On today’s Traffic Jams, we’ll pay tribute to Lou Ottens, the inventor of the cassette tape, who died last week at the age of 94. Let me know what your first cassette tape was, or your favourite mixtape memory.

From there, we received a number of amazing memories and testimonials, which we’ve collected below!
Listening to @LCkua & #mixedtapememories on @ckuaradio on my ‘studio stereo’ circa 1993! Paint splatter friendly & sounding as good as ever! ??????

My most special home made cassette was given to me by my crush in 1977. He recorded Simon and Garfunkel Concert in Central Park for me. I still have it!

The first cassette tape I remember buying with my own money was the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. I’m sure there were lots before, but that memory sticks out.

The first music I ever remember listening to was The Beatles: Rock ‘n’ Roll Music Vol. 1, which my cousin played me. The first music I ever bought was The Beatles Ballads. Both on cassette. Oddly enough, don’t much care for hits compilations now
