What do these moments have in common? They are all made possible by donor support. Donors support CKUA, and CKUA supports artists. It’s that simple.
CKUA donors contribute directly to programming that celebrates independent musicians. Many emerging and local artists have spoken about the impact CKUA has had on their careers. More than 3000 Canadian artists are showcased in CKUA programming each year.
Calgary singer-songwriter Amy Nelson says, “CKUA has supported me as a musician by playing my music, and by introducing me to other artists that I find inspiring. I always listen to CKUA with my morning coffee.” She adds, “People should support CKUA because it’s important to support independent artists. And for people like me, I’d be nothing without CKUA.”
Manitoba musician Del Barber says, “Support this great radio station. We need your help. All of us songwriters, the entire community of music in western Canada and beyond. We really rely on stations like this. The way this thing gets funded is from the listener. There is nothing more direct than supporting it.”
CKUA’s hosts choose the music for their shows. No one tells them what to play, and they consistently celebrate musicians that you won’t hear on other radio stations. Your donation makes this authentic, original broadcasting happen.
“People say that they know my music from Wide Cut Country with Allison Brock, or they let me know they’ve heard me on Lisa Wilton‘s show, Traffic Jams,” says Alberta country star Shaela Miller, who makes her home in Lethbridge. “That makes me so happy.”
Thank you, CKUA donors! Your support elevates artists in Alberta and around the world.
