A Day to Listen: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

News

Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home, and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. A vital component of the reconciliation process is the public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools.

You’re invited to join CKUA for special programming throughout the day. We will be among the many radio stations participating in the A Day to Listen project, which creates space and elevates the voices of Indigenous people in Canada. You’ll hear the voices of leaders, elders, and residential school survivors.

We hope that the music and programming CKUA offers will raise awareness, not just about reconciliation, but also about the unique history, musical artistry, and cultural practices of Indigenous people in Canada.

CKUA is proud to participate in A Day to Listen 2022 in partnership with Downie Wenjack. Join us on September 30 as radio stations throughout Canada come together to acknowledge the past and take reconciliACTION. Visit www.adaytolisten.ca for more information.
