42 Hidden Tracks Deep

News

Since 2019, CKUA’s Hidden Track Podcast has shared amazing conversations about music. We’ve invited artists, producers, authors, and music industry leaders to talk about their work, and the results are some of the most interesting and heartfelt conversations in the history of CKUA. Here are some cool facts about Hidden Track:

  • We’ve recorded 42 episodes.
  • Grant’s conversation with Feist is the most popular episode. In it, she talks about her influences, her newest album, and what it was like to appear on Sesame Street.
  • Two episodes have focused on singular ground-breaking albums—The Pixies’ Doolittle and The Who‘sTommy—and one episode has been about a single amazing song: Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
  • We celebrated some big musical milestones. We wished Buffy Sainte-Marie a happy 80th birthday, we marked Neil Young‘s 75th, and the episode that looked back the furthest into history was our conversation about the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven‘s birth.
  • From Bif Naked to Anoushka Shankar, Richard Thompson to k.d. lang, the Hidden Track podcast explores a variety of musical styles and artists.
  • We also marked losses in the music community. Our episode remembering Ellen McIlwaine was one of our most popular, and many people also told us they appreciated the episode that marked the passing of Bill Bourne.

There is something for everyone in the Hidden Track collection. From our debut episode with Indigenous tenor Jeremy Dutcher to our recent chat with Joey from the roots/folk duo The Bros. Landreth, we’ve loved curating these conversations for you. Your donation supports timely, compelling programming like the Hidden Track podcast.
