The Science fiction-inspired exhibit, ‘Xenogenisis’ now on at SAAG in Lethbridge

Interview

Xenogenisis is a new sci-fi-inspired exhibition on display now at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. The exhibition is the work of the London-based Otolith Group. The group’s work is research-based, and often features moving images, audio, and performances.

Their Xenogenisis takes its inspiration from Octavia Butler’s book series of the same name. That series featured themes of human extinction, planetary transformation, and enforced mutation.

CKUA’s Tony King spoke with two Otolith Group members: artist Anjalika Sagar and theorist Kodwo Eshun. They shared insights into this new work, which explores existentialism, original thought and experience through sound, images and design.

Their exhibition Xenogenisis is on now through November 15th at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge.
